Lavender fields in Tuscany

Fragrant experiences

In summer, the days get longer, the aperitifs move from the bars in the city to the towels at the beach, the air fills with the chirping of birds, and the sun kisses the skin, tanning it gently. Every city bursts with life, colours, and laughter… and Tuscany is certainly no exception.

The region offers everything you could want for a holiday, be it with family or friends. In addition to the most famous tourist destinations such as Elba for the sea or Bolgheri to sip a good glass of wine, today I want to talk to you about a lesser-known side of this land: the lavender fields.

You can find lavender fields in Tuscany in:

  • Santa Luce (province of Pisa)
  • Massarosa (province of Lucca)
  • Maremma (province of Grosseto)
  • Chianti (province of Siena)
  • Castelfranco di Sopra (province of Arezzo)
  • Cecina (province of Livorno)

The best flowering period is from mid-June to the first two weeks of July. Visiting one of these fields means making a sensory journey: sweet and intense colours and scents will envelop you to the point of inebriating you.

Lavender fields in Massarosa

The fields of Massarosa, open on 11 June, are owned by a farm, so to visit them you must follow the opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12.30 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm; open all day on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.

Lavender fields in Maremma

In Maremma, there are several fields located in various areas of Grosseto:

  • Gavorrano: here you will find the Lavanda di Maremma farm, where, in addition to growing organic lavender, they produce and sell various products for both the body and the home.
  • Sorano: you will find the Argo farm, where, in addition to visiting the fields, you can enjoy a lavender-themed farmhouse experience.
  • Marina di Grosseto: here stands the Officinali di Maremma farm, which grows organic lavender.

Campi di Lavanda nel Chianti

In the Sienese area, in the province of Siena, we find Podere Casalvento, which has been growing lavender since the 1960s, producing essential oils and giving life to the Lavanda del Chianti brand.

Lavender fields in the province of Livorno

In the Livorno province, we find the Valicandolina farm and holiday farm in the Bibbona area. One of its peculiarities is that, during the flowering period, it offers various wellness experiences such as yoga at sunset, picnic in lavender, etc. You can participate only by reservation, calling +39.347.6557232.

Lavender fields in Castelfranco di Sopra

The last place you cannot miss to see lavender fields in Tuscany is in Castelfranco di Sopra, in the province of Arezzo. The organic farmhouse Il Bellini, halfway between Florence and Arezzo, offers the opportunity to stroll through the lavender fields, stay on site, an educational farm experience, and much more.
