Christmas exhibitions and traditions: events in Val di Cecina
Christmas transforms the villages of Val di Cecina offering its guests the opportunity of experiencing the magic atmosphere through the many initiatives that are implemented within the different municipalities of the area. The common thread is the crib and the Christmas spirit in general since all the shows are carried out through the collaboration of organizations and families in the area.
Bibbona: the charming old town is cloaked in celebration, up to Wednesday, January 6- niches, windows, doors and windows of the centre will be used for public and free exhibitions of many cribs manufactured by the inhabitants of Bibbona. At the theatre of the Church of St. Hilary will be held, however, the traditional exhibition of Christmas trees.
Guardistallo: even in this town, walking around the village, you can gaze at the "thousand cribs of Guardistallo" thanks to the initiative that the local Pro Loco realized in cooperation with local families. The cribs, manufactured with common materials such as cardboard, plastics or clay, will be exhibited in the streets of the country on windowsills and balconies as well as in the square, in the seat of the Town Hall and that of the Pro Loco. Also in the square you can see a huge Christmas tree that will remain in place until January 6, 2011; for the greedy people, on December 24, just off the midnight Mass will be distributed hot chocolate by the local Pro Loco.
Cecina: to celebrate Christmas and the originality and tradition of the Neapolitan crib, Hermann Geiger Cultural Foundation organizes "Walking to the crib", an exhibition conceived and cured by Mrs. Valeria Valerio and built by the Neapolitan artist Armando Piscitelli and by the architect Gianluca Marangi. The exhibition, organized at the Exhibition Hall in via Matteotti 47, was inaugurated Wednesday, December 8 and will remain open until Sunday, January 9. It can be visited from Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with free admission.
Rosignano Marittimo: the night of Dec. 24, at the ancient village of the Marittimo castle, thanks to the work and the availability of more than 200 characters, comes to life the beautiful Bethlehem year 0 with centurions, Roman knights and the representation of customs and crafts of the time. The whole village is the location that has the characteristic of being "mobile" and is implemented since 1988.
